Guys: I have obtained a Mod 1912/18 Karabin, this one is all matching, even the metal on the handguard matches!! The bayonet is a long model, with some features I do not know, ie: there are two screws on the edge of the scabbard retaining the throat, and there is not a metal scabbard, it appears to be leather with a steel insert for the tip. The frog is leather of the usual pattern, but not stiched to the scabbard. If they had not updated this board, I could post some pix.

The gun is no. 49XX, the bayonet is 15762. the scabbard does match by number....it is Kongsberg made..

Any information as to what this is would be appreciated..

In the Norwegian bayonet section above, there are some pictures of leather scabbards on the M1916 bayonets. Does it look like that?
Your carbine dated 1915? As for what bayonet is was issued with, Hanevik's book says Utten bajonetter. Which I can find no translation for it. The carbines and M1894 rifles were issued both long and short bayonets, M1913, M1916 and M1894 bayonets.

The 2300 M/1912 carbines with serials between 4709 and 7008 were delivered from Kongsberg Arms Factory without bayonets initiallly (in Norwegian: "Uten bajonetter") as they were destined for the Norwegian Field Artillery. In the late 20's, these carbines were equipped with M/1916 bayonets with steel scabbards. Then, 2300 bayonets were numbered for these carbinesand were shipped to the Field Artillery.
As for the bayonet, this is a Model 1916 (M/1916). The first 3720 M/1916 bayonets that were delivered with the M/1912 carbine had leather scabbards (that had been prepared/bought by the factory for the M/1913 bayonets that were now to be discontinued). These were serials 12159-12178, 13179-16678 and finally 21479-21678. Later M/1916 bayonets for the M/1912 carbines had steel scabbards. All M/1916 bayonets for the M/1894 rifle (serials 121001-152000) had steel scabbards.
Hope this explains the issue!
