    hello mr Joe turner.. i am new to this site, but i was wondering .. how would i be able to get the "us" stamp OFF of my holster, besides maybe beating it down with a mallot?. i do reenacting and i got a new holster way back in may 2010 down at new market, va., it was really the best quality holster there for only $29.00 the others were thin and not very sturdy but anyway i was just wondering about the stamp.. i know the originals didnt have them, but i have seen only a few holsters with a buckle on them, but if i have to beat it down i reckon i will do that and how long would it take, ed

    Joe,
    I have sword and im not sure what to thik about it i have gatherd little to no info on it besides the blade was used as a bayonet M1866 chassoport, but i have not seen any of this sort, i was told that the handel was switched to a decortive handle, but the blade seems to fit to perfect for it not to be for that sword. i have seen some of you postings and you seem to be a very educated in this field so i thought i was ask.. It has St Etienne may 1872 engraved on the back im geussing that is when and where it was made. if you have anyother info please feel free to inform me ,

    Mr. Turner;

    I'd just like to express my appreciation of your work, your monograph has been an invaluable source of information and reference while forming my collection.

    As a point of curiosity, are you still following 20th century sabers, or has your interest moved on?

    Very best regards,
    Sean Scott
