    Dear Clyde
As you are an ex lawyer, you may enjoy this story. I worked as a supplementier in a Law School library before I retired. I noticed in one office a Viet Nahm era AT device. When I asked the prof about it he explained that it had been given to him by his students because he was fond of saying, while discussing temporary insanity defense, "Suppose you walk in on your wife & best friend in bed and in a fit of rage take you bazooka and blow them away." I told him it was not a bazooka but he was amused to discover it was a LAW.

I served briefly under Patton's son while in Germany. He was every bit as big a pain as his old man but, not cut from the same cloth. We frequently traveled the autobahn in convoy, usually at about 40mph. Well, it turned out Patton noticed we could not maintain an air guard with tarps on the trucks. So tarp kits and cab covers were removed. Now drive down the road at 40mph in winter blowing in the wind! In the convoy move following that order I saw Patton passing our convoy... riding in the back seat of a nice heated sedan! #@5X!!! Fortunately that only happened once. The military was hell on getting frost bite. If you got it you could wind up facing a court martial as a result, that's how serious they were about it. Well, several cases of frost bite occurred from that convoy. That was the end of THAT nonsense!

Changing the subject. I remembered to bring my old notebook to the office. Here is the thought from Orwell about the right book at the right time. I think it is very very good:

But now and again it so happens that you strike a book which is exactly at the mental level you’ve reached at the moment, so much so that it seems to have been written specially for you. “Coming up for Air” George Orwell

Interesting take on Patton's son. I have always wondered about him as a leader, but hadn't read up on him as of yet. As always, I enjoy your posts, man.

    Take care,

I just read in another thread that you were planning a visit to Arizona in October. I was wondering which area you were planning on visiting? I read about taking the Grand Canyon Railroad from Williams.

That isn't too far from Flagstaff. (Which is where I spend most of my time when I wander over to Arizona.)

Thank you for your help last month. My ex-wife moved a convicted meth head in with my son and I was able to get her to stop letting him come in contact my 6 year old. He is on heavy painkillers(just got downgraded from morphine but still can't drive) and she was leaving him alone with my son when he was impaired.

So you Kipple, you do, you do? I suspect we're getting ready to host a visit from the Gods of the Copybook Headings, myself.... Your PM box is full, and I didn't want my letter to fall out and get lost in the mud....

Very well. I'll rephrase that, sir. One of those who has training in the law, though he has moved beyond the practice of it in an organized venue. And you've definitely made the list.

You and David Drake. I've been watching your posts, and I suspect that I'm gonna have to up the number of lawyers I respect by one. You'd make Number 3.
