    Mr. John Wall,

I've seen your posts from past topics on cleaning rods for Belgian 1889/36 rifle cleaning rods. I was wondering if you know of a source for original, repos or other rifle's cleaning rods that would fit the rifle?

I've also had a hard time trying to find reloading data on the 7.65 cartridge. I would like to reload for one that I own and was wondering if you had info in this? Also can you use the PPU new made 7.65 Argentine ammo in the rifles, and/or the Argentinian surplus ammo?

I tried to send you a PM but it said your folder was full. Please feel free to PM me back if you can.

    Thank you for the help,
    Mil. Collector

Hi John, Tried to send PM, but your box is full....I wanted to check on the Hungarian sight hood...I sent a USPS MO for one hood on July 31st...was wondering if you received it, and if so, has it shipped yet?

    Thanks,

John,I'm running into stone walls with this Mannlicher.Parts indeed are going to be a problem.I read where someone heard a stock and bands are around $500.I'm not that concerned with that.Getting and mountiing a rear sight is my main concern.
Would you know anyone firmiliar with the mechanics of these rifles?
If it's tapped for a scope that wouldn't really break my heart, but I wouldn't want to go tapping holes if they're not there already.Oh my aching head.

Hey John, I see you're on Tuco's, maybe you'll notice this. I just wondered if you've heard aught about the 5th edition yet. Amazon is selling & shipping.

Dear John, As a new memeber, I am just starting to read all the posts. One in particular took my attention. On 16 August 2009 a member called ttenoyab (also known as Rik) posted the following: "I attached a few photos (I hope it works !) of the metal fixture to attach "the sling" of the cavalry 89. The whole leather equipment belonged to the 1st Lancer Regiment (E in a circle)." regarding Belgian cavalry mausers model 1889. I can't seem to find these pictures. You won't have saved these pictures somewhere by any chance? Would it be possible to mail me these pictures as they seem to be most interesting? My e-mail is Gie900@hotmail.com. Many many thanks and best regards, Bram.

    John,
Years ago you reported to have a catalog from a Russian museum (Sverdlovsk) in which two Dutch rifles/carbines were shown. The story was that they were issued to a local Russian infantry corps during WW I.

This of course made you wonder how that was possible. Me to that is.

I’m only recently started to collect firearms and try to solve as many questions about the Dutch M95 as possible.
So, this item would be a challenge.

The first problem is, try to get into contact whit the Museum. This proved to be a big problem.
For starters can I get a copy of the catalog so I have the correct address to start any further investigations?

    Many many thanks,

    John,

Your letter arrived yesterday in the mail.

I thank you very much for the info. It so nice to see the man who carved the gun and used it.

    Thanks again,

    Ed

P.S. John, Is there any thing you are looking for that I might help with?

    Hi Ed,
I know the rifles you are talking about. No, I am not doing anything with them. I only have the two long rifles (with Gew 88 and Gew 98 rear sights), so I'm not to familiar with the carbines at all.
    Regards,
    John

    John,

Thank you very much for your help.

Are you doing anything on the 1891 Peruvian short-rifles, sometimes call the model 1891 Peruvian Navy short-rifles?

    Take care,

    John,

I own a model 1891 Peruvian short-rifles, sometimes call the model 1891 Peruvian Navy short-rifles. Navy carbine sounds to strange of a name.

Are you doing any research on these?

At this time I am toying with the idea of writing a short article for the IMR.

    What do you think?

    Ed

P.S. Did you get a chance to mail out the boot leg copy of the info on the Boer rifle?

    John,

Can you make me a "boot leg" copy of the pages of my rifle from the second 350 page full color book on Boer War rifles and send it to me.

I will buy a copy when my funds rate improve.

    John.

Thank you for the email and the update on the book.

Dave will have to do a reprint and send me a free copy to proof read.

    Thanks John!

    Take care,

    John,

I see a note on the Mauser Board (David George has just privately published his second 350 page full color book on Boer War Mauser).

Can you tell me if my rifle is listed?

I'm making some 7x57 ammo, lower pressure, about 2000fps and 175 grn, long
projectiles. Those old rolling blocks have a slow twist, so that should spin about right. I put the swede 41 sniper on my "to get list". Frank
