sorry to hear about your house. i finally went back to work after being off for 1 1/2 years .
Sorry I've been away so long. I just check here every now and then. I like that Formby's Satin Tonge Oil for a lasting finish. Water proof and really protects the wood. How is your '98 coming along? You test fire it yet?
Those little parts can get pricey. Noticed you have a front sight hood and the trigger guard locking screws. When I bought mu last 98K is had to find a front sight hood. Likely not original, because it doesn't fit the sight base very tight and doesn't have much spring to it.
i found a couple more and i am trying to work out something with hin. he also has some original ammo cans i am trying to buy also. he is out of town dow so it will be a couple of days till i know anything
Just wanted to post a heart felt "thank you" for your service to our great nation.
i just picked up original long clleaning rod
Hope that helps with your project. I am sort of burned-out with these snobby forums, so I only check here time to time. I was a little surprised to the lack of guts and sevility from anybody on that thread. Maybe that is a pre-requisite for being an "Official Mauser Collector"? (You have to check your integrity, courtesy and man-hood at the door). If I can offer help in the future, please don't hesitate to ask. Looks to me that you have the basis of a rifle you can be proud of and be happy with. Don't let these people deter you. They are deeply entrenched into these forums, and unfortunately, asking questions here is like navigating a minefield.
Couple of helpful sources for parts could be SARCO, West Hurley N.J; e-gunparts.com and Springfield Sporters. If you decide after all to replace that stock or any parts, there are plenty available at reasonablr prices.
