    Default O3A4 sniper scope?

    i have this lyman 2.5x alaskan all weather plain crosshair 7/8 " tube serial number 25465 with what look like redfield rings, scope is clear,adjustments work as they should, scope and rings have finish wear and appear to have been together for a long time. is it possible this is a sniper scope? thanks eastbank.

    Unlikely. The Alaskan was adopted as the M73 (with crosswire reticle) and intended replace or supplement the Weaver 330C and its military incantation M73B1 on the M1903A4. Unfortunately due to other war work and the inability of Bausch & Lomb to provide the lenses the scopes were not delivered in time fo use on the A4.

    Some became available later on and wee used on the M1C but the M73 was quickly modified to the M81/82 configuration with eyeshade and sunshade.
