Default Silver Bear "New Bullet Type" 5.45x39

Silver Bear has a new bullet type ammo for 5.45x39. What does this mean?

Is that all you know? What type was the old bullet...the new?

Is that your question...you don't know either and thus don't know what the difference is.

Well I know that the russian surplus is 53 grn and steel core with steel jackets. Maybe these are lead with copper jackets?

The box pictured above says "bimetal FMJ" so the jackets are plated mild steel.

For sure the commercial 5.45x39 has lead core bullets, and there have been a few different types. The milspec jacket filled up with lead (70grs?) and the milspec jacket with a big air pocket with the lead core (59grs) and I guess some with a different bullet jacket and lead core in FMJ, HP and SP designs so far... and now maybe a "new" type FMJ????

Or should I say new "hype" FMJ?

Shoot J&G an email and ask them just WTF is new with this bullet. They feature that statement in their add copy.

Oh how I miss the good old days when all it took to increase the performance of any surplus ammunition was a "MATCH" stencil and a can of spray paint.

    LOL.

I still have a Romanian Spam can of 7.62x39 with a white "MATCH" spray painted on the outside of the can. Remember those?

Yeah, I almost fell for it too. But it was cheap, so, didn't matter what the can said. Cheap is cheap.

One of these days I am going to order 1,000 5.56 cases from Starline with my own headstamp ...."M.O.A.". Can't hurt.

I cant wait to find some of this and try it in my ssg 82. I have been trying different ammo for a while and have my groups down to a inch and a half at a hundred.

I dunno but I'm convinced the 5.45 is clearly superior to the 5.56...

There is a 5.45 hollow point out now, either Wolf or Silver bear has it.
