Offering for sale an original Winchester A5 rifle scope made circa 1909 through 1928. It is a 5x magnification, with a 3/4" tube that is a shade under 16" long. This one has a fine cross hair reticle, and comes complete with the early style mounts with a hair-spring tensioner on the rear ring (later mounts had a plunger type tensioner with a coil spring).
Optics are perfect with no scratches or fogging of the lenses. Finish is about 80% original blue with some thinning and smooth silver/brown patina showing through. There are signs of slight peening in a small area of the tube about 4" forward of the eyepiece, possibly from an old dent repair (noticeable only on close examination).
The Winchester A5 was considered one of the finest scopes of the era, and was used extensively on sniper rifles by U.S., British, and Canadian forces during WW1 and later in WW2. It was also a favorite of competition shooters, and was used on some of the finest single shot and Springfield 1903 target rifles during the inter-war period.
PRICE LOWERED TO $525 including shipping to the Lower 48 states. Please contact me by email or PM with questions or to arrange purchase. More pictures available upon request.
