Hey all! I got myself a Marlin Model 50 the other day and I must say that I am totally frigging stoked about it. It doesn't look like much but it is Marlin's first .22, only 5,000 were made between 1931-1934 and it does fire from the open bolt so the unique/cool factor is rather high.
Now, this particular gun was stored in a closet in Louisiana for the last 25 years and has a peppering of surface rust on most of the exposed barrel. I would like to preserve this fine rifle without damaging its collector value or becoming a Bubba and suffering a beating for it so I am here looking for ideas on what I should do.
