Steel cased Cal .30 Carbine Ball was manufactured at several Ordnance Plants, but Evansville was the primary manufacturer. The cases probably have a zinc finish, similar to the 45 ACP steel cases that were manufactured at Evansville. Certainly not rare, but not as common as the brass cased ammunition.

Millions or billions of those made in WWII, not rally uncommon. All US production of M1 Carbine ammo has been non-corrosive.
Always looking for interesting 7.62x25 Tokarev and 7.63 Mauser cartridges!!!
