does anyone know what year a webley mk iv revolver serial number 387509 was made? thanks for looking.
Are you sure you have the number and model written down correctly? It looks more like a Mark VI number.
1918, but if it is military issue (which it should be) the date is on the LHS above the trigger.
thank you gentlemen for your responces. i haven't seen the gun yet but will check for the date.
just picked up serial # 178049, which is still in original .455, but the serial number on the cylinder is different than the frame number. The date on the LHS above the trigger is a Patent date of 1915. Iread that .455s were worth more than the ones converted to .45, so any idea of the value?
1915 is not a patent date; it was the date that particular revolver was accepted into military service. What did you pay and what is the condition? A mixed gun will not have the same value as one with matching numbers.
