Have found the various discussions on the Czech Vz54 sniper rifle interesting. Does anyone have an idea of the current market value/cost of a complete rifle/mount/scope (matching vs. non-matching)? Availability?
Thank you.
I'd love to have a VZ54, but they are few and far between. One of the members of another board I'm on has a Vietnam bring back. Beautiful rifle. He's not selling. The VZ54/91 I have is incomplete, I paid $750 for it. The bolt and receiver match eachother, the trigger group and magazine match eachother, but the two groups don't match. I love the stock on mine, I just wish they didn't mess with the stickers that were on them, they add some interest to the stock.
Greetings All,
I was fortunate enough to located a matching Vz54 a few years ago. It is she 57 (Povaska Bystrica) manufactured with a matching bolt, striker, scope mount, trigger guard and floor plate. The stock itself is not externally serial numbered. The Cezch scope is yal manufacture with a heavy post reticule. Its a handy rifle but has a stiff recoil due to the light weight. The barrel is counter bored approximately 3/4". All the ones I've seen appear to have this feature. My rifle came with most of the accessories except the scope covers. As to value, I think its been said already, these rifles are rarely seen and fewer still are matching. So putting price on them would be difficult but something in the $2-3000 would not be unexpected in the right auction. I'll post more pictures later.
I did see it but was not smart enough, or wealthy enough, to go for it. Somebody got a nice one at a deal. I do have one though, but 2 is better. See you guys at SOS/NGD I bet.
Good Day All,
Here are some more pictures so there is a complete "picture" of what one should look like. I don't have all the accessories so if someone has pictures of the scope/lens cover and colored lens holder, maybe they could post them.
And Michael, you are not far away and must attend. This may be the last combined Militaria show, from all over the world, and the big gun show combined. They have been together for years in a big center/fairground. Huge show. Great fun.
WOW!
You look at something so long that you miss the obvious. Thank you Davis. I blanked out on the fact that the tool measured 7.95 to 7.99. I guess the question now is, who made it?
