    Default stock cartouche

Could someone be so kind as to zoom in on this round cartouche and determine what the characters might be? It is probably nothing and I apologize for the poor pic but will attempt again. I have one eye and the other one is marginal...thanks !!Click image for larger version.

It looks like a k98 stock. Why are you asking about the cartouche here instead of the k98 board? Is it a jap rifle in a k98 stock?

I am asking if there are characters in this cartouche..if they are by chance some sort of kanji it might be best to ask here. If this is inappropriate will the moderator please delete this thread..thanks. The rifle is a depot built Mod. 98 that also has a partial overstamp obscuring the eagle on the left side of the receiver.Click image for larger version.

I was not trying to bust your chops, sorry if you think that. The stock has the sling swivel on the bottom of the stock which may help in id'ing the cartouche. Maybe Israeli Defence League? Just a guess

Thanks for the info. The rear swivel remains to be identified..it is military in appearance. The front barrel band has been modified. Thanks for the info. This rifles has some anomalies that have me befuddled.

Do you have more pics of the oddities? Top of the receiver other band. The more pice the better the chance to identify. Also i would post this in the k98 forum, they quite a bit over there.

I have posted this in the K98 forum and am getting some good feedback. The other band has had a sling bar welded on the underside and the rear swivel was added...some think to make it a deer rifle but I am not so sure yet.
