Parkerized Mauser - Original?

Could my 42 byf be original if it is parkerized? Definitely not blue like my yugo mauser. Any thoughts are very much appreciated. Jim

I am going out on a limb here but I believe an early to mid war K98 should be blued unless it was refinished post war.

Can you post some pics.....it sounds post war done....pics might help tell us who or when it was parked. But other than Isreal, I am not aware of any country that parked 98k's post war. The war time German parking was done 44-45 vintage and so this is not one of those being dated 42.

Some of my late war K98s ('44 and later) have a gray finish, which could probably be mistaken for parkerizing. Never saw a gray finish on a '42 - all mine are blued.
