    What does the a/n stand for on the reciever of my 1894 carbine?
    The receiver has waffenfabrik oberndorf a/n on it.

    " a/n " means on the river Neckar .

    Oberndorf bei Salzburg, Oberndorf an der Melk, Oberndorf or Oberndorf am Lech. If you ever plan to visit the Mauser Works you would have to be very careful which Oberndorf you went to!

    am Neckar. am is short for "an dem" i.e. "on the."
