Now I remember why I liked this place so much.. Haven't been around for a while, life happens at the strangest of times.. Here are my Soviet military w/o import stamp, a Casco import Model 59, 1966 E. German, and a PW Arms Bulgy with the smallest of import stamps.

Nice to see so many Makarov lovers in one room.

Is that a mistake or is your EG Makarov dated 1966? Nice looking pair of Makarovs you've got there.

It is dated 1966, yes. I actually have two other Maks, but they don't look like much so one stays in my truck and one rides my hip once in a while. It's got tons of holster wear and I find that I'm starting to like look. It looks like a veteran..

Might you post a close up of the 1966 dated EG Mak?

Can anyone help me identify it? The "types of makarov's" thread mentions an -18AS but I haven't been able to find any information on the satin chromed/nikel plated finish on a 9x18. I've only found info on the -17AS in .380. It was imported by Big Bear Arms, Dallas TX. Any help confirming would be great.

That's the thread I got the 18AS designation from. I havent found anyother reference to an satin/nickel finish in the 9x18 caliber. I know it is not a 17AS.

Here is a picture of my non-import Russian Makarov. It is dated 1966. It has much jungle wear and had one matching magazine with it(#2 mag) with serial number matching pistol. I have fired it and it works great, 100% function. It may not be pretty but you just don't see these around.

It is one of my last Makarovs left. I had an excellent collection about 7 years ago, 2-Chinese, one was military one was police, two unissued Russian consecutive numbers (import marked) and two Bulgarian military (one import marked) and a 1960 EG. It is one of my biggest regrets that I sold all but my Russian and EG.

I had 8 at one time, now just the 1975 non-import Russian, EG, Chinese and spotless Bulgarian.

My only Makarov...1961 LSA marked EG with the early style grip and lanyard attachment (through the bottom). Doesn't really fit in my collection but I had to pick it up because the finish is so amazing. Beautiful bluing on this that's tough to capture in photos.

A mix of Bulgy and EG Maks:

    My usual CCW:

German Makarov in IWB Brigade holster

German Makarov in IWB Don Hume holster

Another IWB holster (Russian) and mag carrier for Makarov

Wish I could track down more of thee leather mag carriers tho.

Guess I may as well join in here. New to the Makarovs, but one week end I got two off of gun broker. No one else even bid on these two.

Aarsenal - Held by a collector whom never fired it. Came with all original items and an Armorers kit with new barrel even.

Circle 10 - Second one of the day. I put the original Bulgarian Grips on this one. Thing is next to new.

So, I only wanted a shooter and one to carry. But darn. These were just too super nice. Still needed a shooter. So I bought one of those AIM shooter grades. And I will carry this one after enough practice range time. Far, far nicer than their pics showed. Thank You Aim!!!!!

In all three cases, I figured I would get what I paid for. Probably well holster worn like I see so many for sale at the prices I paid are. Yes, I am plesed with what I bought in a Mak.

Just had these two out again so I thought I'd share a new pic. Both are 62 EG's. The one was nickel plated prior to me owning it.

Saw a good number of police when we visited Russia in 2007 but none that young or attractive. The Russians say 40 and older are very much aware of their well known arms designers but I must say that most were surprised that we could own pistols made in Russia. They were even more surprised that we would want to own them.

    Hello guys,
New to the site and have really enjoyed viewing some amazing pieces on here. What got me here. A few years ago my father-in-law gave me his MAK before he passed away and it's my most cherished piece for sure. I've looked for some info on an EU serial marking with an upside down "J" instead of the common Y. Also, this Thaelmann almost seems to perfect compared to others I've seen. Any thoughts on the markings and do you think it has been restored? Thanks for any input and have a happy new year!

Not restored. Just a beautiful example of probably unissued surplus E. German craftsmanship. A set of original grips (pictured grips were added by importer to qualify for U.S. import points) would complete this, EG Makarov model M, example of Warsaw Pact history.

Since we're having a "Show off your Makarov" thread, here's my Russian commercial factory nickel plated (or stainless, depending on who you ask) with the custom imitation ivory grip (I do still have the original black grip too). It's my Russian pimp gun; the "Mak Daddy" of .380s! :D

Here is a pic of a project I have recently finished. It is a Hi-Cap 9x18 with a Marschal grip and a nickel plated slide. I purchased the slide from forum member Lincen and had it plated by Marhovsky Metalife. It also has an aftermarket rear sight.
