In a post above in the "Ammo" section, mention was made of squibs and inconsistency with Hornady CD ammo in 9x18 Mak. Anyone know anything more about that? That is the first I've heard of the issue and I was thinking about trying the round.
I hope not because I own a box. I bought Hornady 9 x18 Makarov when it was first offered in 1994? I had too many squibs to find it as a reliable self defense round.
From my understanding some other people have had the same experience.
We haven't had a recent post about problems with Hornady CD. There were problems for a while - I had one squib, wrote the company, and they replaced the box.
Since we haven't heard for a while maybe they got their QC together ...
Current recall of 9x19, posted in the ammo section, would suggest they have not. I know other manufacturers have put out bad rounds before too, but it sounds like the same old static bridge problem with their equipment to me.
There was problems with Hornady 9x18 early on, several people on here had problems with it. I bought some and while I didn't have any squib rounds it was real inconsisent and I had some failures to feed and extract. Haven't heard of any problems lately but I've not bought any more and probably won't.
Round nose work just fine. Why break whats not broke!
