Found this nice example of an Astra 3000 at a gun show in West Palm Beach this past weekend. An older gentleman told me he has over 90 Spanish pistols in his collection and he is starting to liquidate some of his holdings. He has had this pistol for over 35 years. According to Mr Antaris's book, the sn puts it mfg in 1952. It has the triad proof marks on the left side, early Ebar House proof, late Ebar Automatic Pistol proof and early Ebar Automatic Pistol proof over A1. That confuses me a little as the A1 is a proof year coding for 1955. Make me wonder if it really did sit around for 3 years before being proofed. All serial numbers match. The chrome magazine is not marked. I paid $450 for it.
Nice piece, nice pics ! The Astra 3000 pistols seem to be a tough find. Maybe not rare but sure do not see many for sale.
It may have sat around for a few years before proof, Astra seemed to have made pistols like that.
It is a 9mm Corto/.380ACP ?
I have noted this on other Astras from the mid-1950s. It is if Astra manufactured them and warehoused them, and based on if they were pulled out to be sent to a Spanish Military contract, or exported as part of a sales contract, they were stamped accordingly at that time. The gaps I have seen are normally 2 or 3 years.
