I found an 1895 Winchester in 38/72. It has an octagonal barrel, 28" (I think). No extra holes, but the rifling is pretty bad. The stock had an old repair at the wrist, two small screws and one larger holding it together. SN dates it to 1900. Maybe 20% blue on the receiver. Lettering on the barrel and receiver is sharp. Seller wants $700.00 for it. Is that a fair price?

My copy of Shennum & Hartman only goes down to 50% guns, but suggests $2450 for one like yours in 50% condition (2010 date). Might want to take a look at a current Blue Book. That said, a 20% gun is unlikely to get much collector interest, and sewer pipe bore doesn't make it a candidate for use as a shooter. I doubt I'd go that high for described gun, but that is me. Dunno what current market might be up in the newly-red state of Wisconsin.
