Time exposure I would guess, because that's over with in a fraction of a second. But it points out something....
If the flint is properly knapped and hitting the frizzen correctly, and if the pan has only a small amount of igniting powder far over on the right side of the pan, the main charge is ignited and the ball out the bore before the hammer has dropped its total distance. With everything working properly, a flintlock ignites and has the ball at the muzzle in something like 6-8 thousandts of a second. Pretty darn fast, no? The lock is the heart and soul of a flintlock!
