    can anyone provide a general date of manufacture or other info for this? CYQ S/N 9003W ,2 JVD clips and P38 and CXD on back of holster

    November of 1944, looks like a nice rig. Cog hammer. The paint came out of the F mark, but it does not look dipped to me. To be certain, take it apart and check the small parts.

    what do you mean "dipped" ? The f and s are not painted I had it apart to repair a broken decocker and all the small parts the have numbers match as I recall

    Russian capture pistols were dipped in blue. One of the first signs of this occurring is a lack of paint in the S and F marks. Sometimes it just comes off due to wear and/or cleaning. I was just confirming for you that this is most likely a P38 with original finish.
