seriously.. am i missing something... 6k for 4 crappy pics (i know its 1891 dated.. but thats good amount of $$).
With those pictures and that description, I don't think that seller really knew what he had.
if that the case one should take more pictures..
I'm guessing that there had to be more pics which proved it was unaltered?
If it truly was an original matching 1891 Chatellerault, it went cheap.
key word - IF. 6k is a large gamble.
Looks like he tried to add more photos in the item description but didn't really understand how. I wonder if someone here bought it. I'd love to see more photos of this one. The flat rear sight is extremely intriguing.

last item he sold was in 2009
You do know you can email and ask for more pictures and such on any listing?
it is 1984
Not even a full size picture? A gamble, indeed, unless the winner got more pictures that were not posted on GB.

any shots of the numbers? I don't spy the finger rest / spur.
Well an 1894 wouldn't have a spur
auction says 1891...
Chat also didn't make 1891 dated rifles
No front band swivel. Can't tell if it has a crossbolt or not. Buttplate looks good.
Yes, i know that but thats what the seller is saying it is.
Ok, for sake of argument lets say its 1894 - French Manufacture. If its truly unaltered it should look something like this:
Well it's the original butt plate . Told it had no crossbolt. Bolt also matches. Magwell gate does not however he thinks just the gate was replaced as the the rest of it has the Chat markings
I thought the same thing but he assures there is none
With mismatched mag plate and no front band swivel, it isn't "unaltered".
But it sounds danged close.
man would have loved to see this rifle photographed with something other than a potato...
I know right 😂😂😂
Cocking knob should be numbered.
Not trying to pick it apart. It's a valuable gun, and maybe worth the money, But not unaltered.
Doesn't the mark on the knob look like the chat shield mark?
nope diffently not "unaltered", and with out proper pics of many of the areas it is starting to lean toward being a mix of parts . Hopefully not a hump job / part swapper.
May well be a Chatellerault replacement knob. But an original would be numbered.
Mitch, for photos, sign up for Imgur and never look back. That photobucket is torture!
I'll have to look into it 😂
