Iam converting the black plastic furniture on a new century c308. Everything is looking good but the butt stock, picked up a German complete wood stock from Hkparts but the backplate metal does fit my receiver? So I swapped the backplate metal that came with my plastic hk stock because I know it fits the receive fine, wood stock fit great, problem iam having is that the buffer whole in metal back plate doesn't line up with buffer hole in wood stock. The whole in the wood stock is about 1/8" higher an hole in metal so that when you're looking down thru hole in metal you see about 1/8 or a little more of the wood so that you cannot install the recoil buffer. Everything else lines up? Any suggestions?
I did pick up a Cetme wood stock now just need to figure out the backplate metal that works with the improved Cetme buffer I got got from Bill Springfield. The handguard and wood pistol grip look amazing!!!
Finally done!!! Was able to get stock attached. It took approx. 6 weeks finding everything, then refinishing the wood and Ian very happy with the final product.
There is a little slop in the bayonet I have to say, but not much. Essentially the main support comes from the lug that it locks into, but there is definitely some wiggle towards the tip
Yes, I was able to make it work. Essentially it came down to sanding the plastic cap that is on the recoil rod assembly so it will fit inside the tube without loading the recoil spring when you insert the buttstock into the receiver. The metal backplate was a very tight fit and required some patience but it worked and the rifle operates perfect
