    smile 91/59 Thanks Honey!!

I love my wife! Our anniversary is coming up and she got me this sweet Mosin-Nagant 91/59 carbine as an early present.

It's a 1943 Izhevsk in a m-44 stock. 99% bluing All matching numbers and a mirror bore to boot. The stock is super smooth and very stout. Seems beefier that my Hungarian M-44 was. Only marking on the stock is a "Star" cartouche. Did I mention I Love my WIFE!!!

Absolutely gorgeous rifle. That does not look like a birch stock to me. Grain looks too pronounced.

Good eye. It's walnut. I have one like it with the same star. http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinRareCzechStock.htm

Congratulations on the rifle and the wife! It's not easy finding a good lady that's willing to accommodate our collecting habits!

I just got a nice little carbine for my wife. Not a Mosin, but a Marlin.

Thanks bao. I believe that's a good choice to hang on to it. Apparently they are excellent shooters and becoming a bit scarce these days. Other that this one I've seen only one or two more in person over the past 10 or so years in my neck of the woods. But then again I haven't been seeking out carbines as my collection has focused on Finnish rifles.

Congrats on the great wife and the nice rifle. My wife bought me a NIB 1968 S&W model 28 for our wedding. As I was admiring the gun I was apologizing for not getting her anything as nice. She was laughing and pointing to her rather expensive engagement ring.

Uh, oh... she's got YOUR rifle over her shoulder, and one hand on the door. Is she LEAVING with it?

Seriously, thank you for sharing, both rifle and wife are keepers! Congratulations on both counts.
