Default What do you guys make of this Mauser?

I'm not sure what it actually happened to it but do you think it's worth $400?

We will need more detail photos and measurements (length of barrel in particular) as well as serial number information. Do any numbers match?

It appears to be a shortened Gew98. If so, it was not done by a government armory and may be the work of Bubba gone wild.

I can get more photos later, but only the receiver and barrel match. Everything else is mismatched.

The stock finish doesn't seem to match the receiver condition. Furniture was likely added with the rest of the build.

Not as common as the State Arsenal makes. Is the bore OK? If so, it could be a shooter. But $400 might give me pause, due to the other issues.

Complete parts gun! Mixture of many different model Mauser parts. It IS NOT arsenal made. The stock is not a GEW or K98 stock.

In other words, probably not - unless you're just looking for a shooter.

I'm stunned by helpful and quick responses. I had set up a time to see it because I wanted to get a German K98 for my collection, but this is not going to be it. Thanks again for the the input.
