Rub baby powder on the barrel shank to Fill in marks and blow off excess. If anything remains then the powder should highlight what you can't see.

I'm gonna guess 1895, just like what the barrel shank shows.

It was not made in 91 and probably not in 92. The following font is on a 91. I agree that it is probably a 95.

dx, is that your M91? If so, can you provide more pictures of the barrel and this style writing! I have been looking for one of course with this style of Russian writing for a long time now too. But this may also help answer another question from another post, about a particular Russian font M and crown stamp found on early dated Mosins. It looks like this is already exhibiting that M style font! Second letter on the top curved Russian writing for the word Imperial.
    MOSIN PRIME!

Always looking for interesting Imperial Mosins! Antique M91s, 91/38s and Imperial dated Nagant revolvers. PM me if you may have one you may be looking to trade/sell.

Sestroretsk, 1916 with славянская вязь font. Apologies for the crappy picture, taken w/ a phone.

PS. What is "balkins", never seen this word before?

I will take some pics this weekend and post them. This is the only one I have on my iPad at the moment.
