Attached are a couple photos of a WWII Mauser I bought recently. Mainly I bought it because 1936 date and other marking. I do not know the manufacturer and would appreciate knowing who and where it was made, and the meaning of the other emblems. Many thanks.Click image for larger version.

S/42 is Mauser Orberndorf. And it is, of course, an RC (the X marking), so the parts other than the barrel and receiver can be expected to be mixed.
Every post I make is made with a request for corrections. I'm here to learn.

Many thanks Bill, nice to see it is an Orberndorf. You are correct about non-matching numbers. The bolt, etc, have only elec-pencil numbers added. I'm amazed that the bore is so bright and crisp, not that I intended to shoot it anyway. Thanks for your help.

Not shoot it? The folks who make ammo have to eat too you know. If it's wearing it's Orberndorf barrel and it's in the condition you say it is, then I'll bet it is a fine shooter. Great shape for a RC!
