Default KuK Kriegsmarine Kappe and start of a uniform

A number of years ago I passed on buying a nice Austrian Navy uniform because it did not have a cap with it, I had not seen one for sale and thought that it would be impossible to find one. Recently I found one on ebay and within a few days another showed up. I managed to get the nicer of the two for the cheapest price (always good for a tightwad like me) and then a grouping of two jumpers, a jacket, neck tie and several collars came up for sale. I am in the process of getting funds to Germany for that. It is a named grouping that has some history, so it will be a nice addition to the line up of uniforms. The one problem is that the Kappe has the badge of an Unteroffiziere, but the cap is not named and I have found a Matrose badge to replace it. The odd thing is that I have looked for a long time for these things and they all turned up in a matter of a couple of weeks.
I will post a photo later, it looks like photo bucket is being more crap than usual.

You are becoming quite the sea dog, aren't you? If I could post pictures I would post one of my one and only Navy flat hat, that you might pity me, maybe even enough to send a spare ambulance my way.

A pre-dreadnought no less. Have I told you lately that I hate you?

And it is a ship with some interesting history, but there is no way I am going to pity you.

    Damn Gsu!

I feel for you Bud! ........ Paying top dollar for an Austrian summer issue Boy Scout Uniform is embarrassing. I'll be happy to help you out of this bind by hiding this embarrassment within the size and scope of my Collection. I promise you that nobody will be the wiser.

In the absence of this approach, you can wear the uniform outside of the super market when the Girl Scouts are selling cookies. Or perhaps even at Christmas time when the Salvation Army is desperately ringing their bell for much needed donations.

It pains me to see you ripped off yet again my Friend! Stick to farming equipment and you can't go wrong.

    Warmest regards,

    JPS

PS - I forgot to tell you how much I hate you???

Hey John, did you even notice the British Royal Marine cap with the HMS Europa cap tally I got last month? The Europa served in the Dardenelles campaign, unfortunatlym the uniform I got to go with it is probably a cub scout uniform. I did just win a decent looking set of RN blues to go with the HMS Vivid cap. Now I need to find a French jumper to go with my cap and trousers, then it is Russian and Italian to tick off the list.

By the way, Maggie suspects you no longer have a collection, as it was put in a shipping container that was accidentally shipped to Nepal or Brazil instead of the United States.

I am ready to unpack the container soon as I have heard it may have been on the way here... looking forwards to that! ;-)

While we're at it ... I had this (late, murdered in Africa) BIL that once explained to me the Belgian abbreviation on his (navy) cap. Before the name of the vessel stood "ZM-FN". ANY Belgian Flemish Navy guy explained this abbreviation as: "Zonder Meisjes - Flauwe Nachten". Meaning in English: "Without Girls-Lonely Nights". Of course the abbreviation only meant"ZeeMacht-Force Navale"

Gus, my friends in Mongolia ascertained me that the containers are still kept in outer Mongolia ... they wait for my command to "tow" them to "Inner Mongolia". I didn't know they still loved me there as much as in the nineties ... I'm humbled!

As JPS said, a scout uniform... I'll take it off your hands without charge so your collection won't be tainted by it... ;-)

Well, actually... Congrats! A great find!

Now I need to find a Steyr M1886 and bayonet,, as that is what he was armed with in his Ausmusterung photo.

Damn Gsu!........Another fake display! At least the backdrop doesn't feature any burlap!

But seriously???.......The model tractor in the right rear side of the display wasn't built until well after the war and its not very likely that they were issuing Lipton Tea in the K.u.K. Kriegsmarine during WWI!

OH???.........And I almost forgot!........You do know that I HATE YOU???

    DAMN!!!!

Did I mention I am now looking for a white cap to go with the other uniform that came with the grouping?
