I posted this 1939 sa m38 with this sight in the last year. It was done by bubba and is a globe sight with the globe cut off and possibly jb weld or something used to form a blade. Unsure if this was it.

That certainly is unique, but not what I was thinking about uber. I seem to recall it was very "blocky". My impression was that it was prototypical and somehow it made its way from Izhevsk to Finland during the Winter war or soon afterward. It was definitely dated 1939 and had the early pattern stock.
It certainly was extremely interesting to an M38 nut like me.
