Very nice looking. I'm curious if it is functional. Where would you find balls and caps that size? Even if it is functional I don't think shooting it would be advisable, I imagine it is worth more in an unfired, unturned condition.
Yes it is completely functional. Black powder and lead balls should be possible to find. The caps are not available a far as I know. But no, I would not attept to actually fire this pistol.
I posted on your Winchester up the page then saw this. The plate from USHS reminded me that I have a Colt SAA from them inherited from my father. Quality work on them.
Hmm - grip frame looks to be brass. With everything else they did (clearly first quality work), wonder why they didn't silver-plate it like the originals?
Have you measured the bore and charge-hole diameters (presumably c. .18-.19")?
IF you wanted to shoot it (I applaud the decision to leave it un-fired), I'd think 4F powder would work OK, and size BB shot (.180 diameter; maybe #1 at .160" depending) should work OK.
Not sure that takes away from it. The entire run was under a Colt license to the USHS now know as America Remembers. Do a google search and they are selling for several hundred dollars.
