Hello PG, Not enough info! Go to coolgunsite and see how original /collectable your M1911 is. Could be any where from $600 to 2000. M1911 and M1911A1s are becoming more and more collectable! BUT condition condition and parts originality/finish are paramount. After comparing your M1911 with the above site, you will have a base from which to ask about evaluation. Regards, Ray
Thanks RAYJ for the Colt site information . Here is what I have Colt 1911 WW1 made in late 1918 Serial # above #400,000 so called Black Colt or Black Army very dark blued finish 98% finish only small scratch under take down lever no holster wear correct mag marked on top of lip with R Risdom Tool & Machine all black matches gun original barrel marked with P & a H . Do the so called { Black Armys) made in late 1918 have any extra value over other WW1 Colts?
Hi PG, Sounds like a higher dollar collectable to me. $2000?. The best thing now would be to post a picture at: http://www.jouster.com/cgi-bin/pistol/pistol.pl. The guys there are (like here) friendly and very helpful. The .45 board is specialized and some of the posters are the foremost in the M1911 collecting field. Sounds like a winning item to me. Regards, Ray
Gentlemen,
I recently acquired a genuine Colt 1911 and I would like some help with it's approximate value. Here's the specs:
Left Slide markings: "PATENTED APR 20,1897. SEPT 9,1902. DEC 19,1905. FEB 14,1911. AUG 19,1913" "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO. HARTFORD,CT.U.S.A." Non-Circled Middle located Rampant Colt.
Left Frame markings: "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" in front of trigger guard. Eagle's Head S12 inspection mark above magazine release button.
Right Slide markings: "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY"
Right Frame markings: "No 393XXX".
Barrel markings: the letters "P" over the letter "H" on top of barrel.
Finish: Uniform blueing with minor pitting on top of slide and left side of slide. Grips: Original Double Diamond (diamonds at each screw hole pointing toward each other).
Thanks.:D
