    Default Cole's repro PE sniper

I recently picked up a scopeless repro PE sniper. I believe this is one of the Cole's repro PE snipers that was never finished or the scope/mount was removed for some reason. I had a couple of questions that I thought maybe the members here could help with.

First off for those that have owned the Coles repro PEs in the past how has the base held up under firing? I have read lots of reports on soft screws with the repro mounts and was wondering how the bases have held up on the repro PEs snipers Coles sold.

Second, I have a repro PE mount that I bought off the trader a while back and have put it on this sniper along with a 39 PEM scope. My question is on the mount itself. On the left side of the mount you have the two locking thumb screws. Between these you have a small screw that holds the locking wedge to the mount (for lack of better term). My question is what is the proper way to secure the mount to the base using the thumb screws and how does the screw holding the lock wedge come into play? I'm probably over thinking this but this is the first time I have worked with these repro PE mounts.

I know they have been plagued in the past by soft screws and easily broken parts; just looking for any suggestions and info you may have on this type of set up.

Thanks in advance for any info,

Small wedge screw has nothing to do with securing mount to the base. Its only purpose is to keep wedge on the mount to avoid losing it. Btw it shouldn't be tightened into the wedge. You should leave enough length so the wedge could reach the base when you start tightening thumb screws. As for thumb screws themselves there's no any proper way, just hand tight them and that's all. The rear recoil block of the mount takes all the beating anyways. Good luck

Thanks Pavlin; that is what I thought but wanted to make sure. I hope to test fire it for the first time when I get home from work later today.

Yes, I had found this post when searching the forum for info. It had me considering taking the mount to a gunsmith and having the rear block welded in place before even messing with it on the firing line.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the info; I appreciate it. I couldn't find much info on the repro sniper rifles they sold using the search function. Glad to hear the base and mount has held up.
