Default Winchester 1895 Original and sporter

My 2 Russian contract Winchester 1895s. Bottom one I won on gunbroker last year and the top one I purchased yesterday from the Charles W. Clawson collection.

The one I bought from the Clawson collection is absolutely beautiful and the picture nowhere near able to portray how beautiful it is in person.

I am envious, top rifle is beautiful, I have yearned for one....for years....

Found a real nice one....unissued it appeared at a Reno Gunshow, an auction house was displaying it for a later auction. I got the catalog....had no significant money the day before the auction.....that night I went to a local Casino and hit several thousand.....only to get on the computer and see that the Hammer fell......2300.00 was all the mint rifle sold for....I was sad and a bit resentful..... Oh well, was not meant to be....

It would have sat nicely with my Unissued Remington and N.E.W. U.S. flaming bomb stamped rifles.....

    Pahtu.

it took me awhile to find the first one. I knew at the time I wouldn't be able to afford an original so I mainly just looked for one that the stock had been cut down. I think I paid $1600 for it in the end.

    Definitely jealous!

I have a lovely 1895 Winchester in 30-06 with a "Climbin' Lyman" sight and really hope to add a Russian one - the hole in my collection is painful.

Obviously not a close up shot, but it has "the look" and coming from that collection I am sure it is a real nice example. A hearty congratulations. This would be one of my holy grails as for a lot of us. Lots of drool when this one gets around. Happy days to you! Regards, John.

Thanks for the images! Always wanted an 1895 Musket.

Picked up an M95 Carbine in .30 US last year and I love it!

Still looking for a musket with a good bore and that "right" price....

Great catch. That is one rifle that is on my "whip the plastic out if no cash and take it home" list. I have completed two guns on that list this year but still looking for the Winchester. Would go great with my 303, 30/40 and 405. They are great guns.

I would love to find an 1895 in 303. I find 1895 winchesters to be really interesting and if I had the finances I would put more effort into collecting them.
