All 303 Enfields have an angle on the magazine bottom - roughly 30 degrees off to the horizontal line of the rifle. This allows the magazine spring to curve to allow the follower to tilt to allow for the rimmed cartridges. Only one that doesn't is the Indian 2A which is in 308 anyway - rimless.

The magazine as shown simply due to mechanics cannot be made to work except maybe one extra round at best. Beyond that, you will get jamming, rounds pushing backwards nosedown in the WRONG direction etc. Simple mathematics and mechanics.

Additonally, considering that the rounds are pretty tight in a Mosin Nagant magazine as standard, I cannot see how inserting an extension INTO the mag well will work as simply there will not be sufficient room for the rounds! The extension should be at least the same width as the original magazine or even wider.

A LOT more design work needed here yet!

The magazine well on my Mosins measures a scant .020" bigger that the cartridges just above the rim. That leaves less than .010" per side for the "clip" wall thickness. I don't think that's near enough to provide for any rigidity.

I suspect that it turned out to be much more difficult than he anticipated....if not impossible.

It does look cool though! I agree with the guy that said it looked kind of like an M-14. I hope he finishes them and they work.

I think I would be interested, but I don't know how many rounds because of the kick on the Mosins.

As far as I know that one did work. It is a real Finnish mod.

I would defiantly buy one of those assuming they worked. A 30 rounder would be cool. or maybe a 250 round double drum magazine!

Seriously though, I'd buy one.

Default Extended mag for Mosin??

I don't see the point, in a Mosin.

With a skilled shooter and stripper clips it only takes maybe a second to jam 5 more rounds in the 5-round mag. Why don't we focus on making some STRIPPERS that actually work? I bought like 50 of those brass ones and some of the steel ones and they don't work for crap, they hardly hold the rounds without them popping out while loading.

I learned from my experience trying to use the 20 round extended mag for my Chinese SKS, that most aftermarket extended mags for fixed mag designs don't work......so I bought a Romanian AK so I could have a hi-cap 7.62x39.

Same with the repro "trench mags" for the Mausers, can't see them being workable, plus I just don't see a point in a "hi cap" bolt action rifle. It isn't that hard to just reload. With the really nice Yugo stripper clips I can feed 5 fresh rounds and have the bolt closed ready to fire in maybe less than 2 seconds. I mean, it's a bolt action rifle! It's not designed for high volume hi speed firepower, it's for long distance volley fire or maybe engaging individual targets at 3-400 yards. It's not an assault rifle. Plus it's not like anyone really keeps a Mosin loaded for home defense, and the 5 roung mag worked well enough for the Russian/Soviet and many other armies for 60+ years so why mess with success?

You have a very valid point. I can't even get a decent high cap for my 10/22 that functions properly.

It's all about the "cool" factor. It's the same with the 10/22, no i don't need a 50 round magazine, but I like it!
