Thanks I'll give them a call.

I just looked at the couple I have and I don't see a lanyard loop in any of them ... I haven't picked up the two I ordered out of this batch ... I'll check in tomorrow after I grab them

Seems to be part of this specific Spanish police lot. The two 28s I got from the same lot have the loops, but the 30 doesn’t. Also look out for an absent magazine safety spring, as well as a clipped slide safety spring.

    No mag safety on mine.
The slide safety is stout, not easy to manipulate.
Have to get out and shoot it.
    Thanks

My recently purchased 28M. It has Interarms importer's markings. Don't know whether it was a police gun or not, but does not seem to have been used much. No lanyard loop.

A question for those who know: is the mag release button on these guns reversible? Also, do 30M mags fit a 28M? Thanks!

I have no first hand knowledge but have read in several places that the 28 and 30 mags are interchangeable and have seen no one dispute that. I just ordered a couple from Numrich so will know for sure in a few days.

May be more than a few days, as their website says they are closed due to covid.
I put in a order about a week back so its a waiting game.
    And so it goes.

28 and 30 mags are interchangeable I just tried em ... I just picked up the two 30ms and both of these have the lanyard rings ... One works fine but the second one is stiff to charge and won't fully return to battery... anyone have any ideas .. I changed the main spring with a known good one from another pistol...

It's worth mentioning that S&W 59/590/5900 series magazines work nicely on the M28/30/31...
all You have to do is drill & file a mag catch hole in the magazine.
Don't go dremel-happy, just be precise and take your time. It works

Also swaps with the Star 243 Firestar Plus...
can't remember if the mag catch is the same on those...

Star loved stealing S&W mag designs...lol

    And...someone modded a Beretta M9 33-round mag...
ostensibly with just a mag catch hole as well, shown on Utube.

Here’s mine. Picked it up yesterday. When speaking with Ada a week or two ago, I requested the loop and they found one! The condition of this one is far better than the one I bought from SOG in 2014-ish, which was heavily used as so many of these surplus 30M’s are. Based on the stickers on the box, I do believe these were once in SOG’s inventory at one point.
This one is also different in that it has the SN stamped on the slide as well. None of my other 28, 30, 31 have that.
Thanks for the heads up, OP! I would never have found these otherwise.

It's threaded Mike. The base is long enough to go through the grip.

By the way, there are two variations of the loop, the round one seen in the pics and a longer, classical one as seen on many STAR pistols.

Interestingly, the loop is welding shut. Almost like it was hand-made, and not with a welding machine, but heat and hammer

So is it screwed only to the steel plate in the grip, or does it thread into the frame?

I've never seen one before on an M28 or M30.

Threads on frame. The grip has a hole so the base goes through it.

It was used on all Ertzaintza (Basque Country Police) model 30 and 31 pistols.

Are you sure is welded? The loops were well fit face to face but really open.....

Pics of the 30M I got from SOG, with the loop missing but the threaded hole present. Judging by the lint, it was missing for a while. Also included picture of one of the 28Ms I received from Armamentos via SOG, with the loop.
Star, I appreciate the detail of Ertzaintza !! The mag in one of the 28Ms has the name “Aitor” etched into it - which gave me good idea that these came from the basque region. It is all coming together her now!

Here’s a close up from yesterday. I’d have to dig out the pistol for more detailed shots, but here you can see a bit of the metal overlap from the weld. You’d for sure know better than I, but is sure looks like an old school blacksmith weld to me. The loop on the 28M is different.

It seems like such an excrescence. The beauty of the M28-30-31 design is the simplicity of stripping it; remove the backstrap/hammer group and the grips just fall off. Who wants to have to unscrew a damned lanyard ring just to get the left grip off? Then, unless it's a freewheeling type, it may unscrew and come loose when you don't want it to, which defeats the whole purpose of the lanyard.
