    Default Finnish M27 Stock Disc

    Hello all,

I recently purchased my first Finnish M27 complete with the original stock disc (the main reason I bought the rifle). It also retains the bolt "wings." I am having a little bit of trouble deciphering the stock disc, however. It is marked 2/KSR with 217 under that. According to this website (https://forum.axishistory.com//viewtopic.php?t=101995), KSR stands for Keski-Suomi Regiment which translates to Central Finland Regiment. What would the preceding 2 stand for? I believe that the 217 corresponds to it being the 217th rifle assigned to this regiment. Please correct me if I am wrong.

    Thanks for all the help!

2./KSR = 2nd Company of Keski-Suomen Rykmentti (literally "Central Finland Regiment"). The Regiment was founded at Hämeenlinna in 1919 and was reorganised as the 2nd Battalion of the 2nd Brigade (II/2. Prikaati) when the Winter War broke in 1939.

The 2nd brigade (and the conscripts who at the time were serving in KSR) were part of the 1st division. The Finnish wikipedia article of the 1st division through traslator is actually pretty good: https://translate.google.com/transla...28talvisota%29

Very cool rifle. I have yet to encounter any Finn with a stock disc in the wild!

I appreciate all of the information that has been shared with me. Very cool Wiki article, Haupitsi. I look forward to my continued collecting, and I wish all of you good luck in yours.
