When my favorite news outlet gets caught manipulating digital images of gun bearing protesters in Seattle, and then deletes them when caught?

Fox News published digitally altered and misleading photos on stories about Seattle's Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) in what photojournalism experts called a clear violation of ethical standards for news organizations.

As part of a package of stories Friday about the zone, where demonstrators have taken over several city blocks on Capitol Hill after Seattle police abandoned the East Precinct, Fox's website for much of the day featured a photo of a man standing with a military-style rifle in front of what appeared to be a smashed retail storefront.

The image was actually a mashup of photos from different days, taken by different photographers -- it was done by splicing a Getty Images photo of an armed man, who had been at the protest zone June 10, with other images from May 30 of smashed windows in downtown Seattle. Another altered image combined the gunman photo with yet another image, making it appear as though he was standing in front of a sign declaring "You are now entering Free Cap Hill."

Fox's site had no disclaimers revealing the photos had been manipulated. The network removed the images after inquiries from The Seattle Times.

Sorry about the multiple posts, theres a video link limit so I had to split them up.
I got a message last night from a cousin who's from the wacky side of the family.
.
(His father thought he was an Indian & quit his 20+ year job at Fords to go & "Be with his tribe" at the wounded knee farce back in the 70's? Unfortunately after he abandoned his wife & kids to drive there it turned out he was the wrong kind of Indian & the Lakota told him so in no easy manner. He had to come back within a week & beg the boss he'd abused when he quit without notice to get his job back)
.
He apparently has a business in that area, some kind of health care hiring headhunter or something. He was sending me lots of videos of how nice, multi-cultural & kids playing in the streets. He swears there are no checkpoints of guards & its all gamboling in Elysian Fields unicorn good.

I'll see if I can copy/paste the links.
.
We are safe. The CHAZ area in my city of Seattle is also safe – friends of mine visit and share live video while they do.
For this case, Fox News' coverage has been inaccurate. I think we can agree that our news coverage has become politically skewed on some events. I understand that my preferred news stations are politically skewed too. One day, I want to take a pledge to watch only Fox News for a month, in exchange for a Fox News watcher doing the same with CNN. Anyway, in cases like these, social media can provide a chance to get first hand accounts.
Here's a good post from a Seattle resident in the area:

Yeah so I saw no where were the boogaloo boi who shot the cops claimed he was Antifa. If he did he was just trying to lay blame on Antifa as many do like fire bombing jerks that were in the protests.

Boopgaloo bois are anti government as far as the .gov taking away guns ie 2nd amendment. They want a civil war. Kinda makes sense now don't it.

https://www.adl.org/blog/the-boogaloo-extremists-new-slang-term-for-a-coming-civil-war
Snippit: White Supremacists Take Up the TermWhite supremacists have also adopted the boogaloo concept. A particularly disturbing boogaloo t-shirt (currently available online) features the word boogaloo under a photograph of John Earnest, the white supremacist who opened fire at a synagogue in Poway, California, in April 2019, killing one person.
Whereas the militia movement, radical gun rights activists typically promote the boogaloo as a war against the government or liberals, white supremacists conceive of the boogaloo as a race war or a white revolution. Some promote boogaloo-related phrases alongside hashtags such as #dotr or #DayOfTheRope, both of which are references to neo-Nazi William Pierce’s The Turner Diaries, a novelized blueprint for a white revolution.
Accelerationist white supremacists are particularly apt to use “boogaloo” – they seek the violent collapse of modern society in order to bring about a new, white-dominated world. Among them is Paul Nehlen, who gained notoriety by running for U.S. Congress in Wisconsin in 2016 and 2018. After the Poway synagogue shooting, Nehlen embraced both accelerationism and the term boogaloo and has even posted photos of himself wearing the John Earnest/boogaloo shirt.

In August, the accelerationist “Terrorwave Refined” Telegram channel posted the following call to arms:
If they are ever dumb enough to come for your guns, let the executive, legislative, and judicial workers and their **** handlers know that they had better confiscate all the manure and trucks in America…because the first places you’ll visit will be the courthouses, legislatures, barracks, and next, their personal homes, their parents [sic] homes, their kids [sic] homes…and it will truly be the beginning of the White Man’s Boogaloo.
The reference to manure and trucks is likely an allusion to Timothy McVeigh’s use of an ammonium nitrate truck bomb to destroy the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City in 1995.
The white supremacist (and accelerationist) group Feuerkrieg Division recently posted a song about a race-war boogaloo to its official Telegram channel. A sampling of the lyrics makes its thrust clear:
Do the Boogaloo!
Kill the *****, and save the whites
Come on, it’s time to go!
Do the Boogaloo!
Plug a pig, and then a Yid
Let’s do the Boogaloo, all together now!
Care must be taken when evaluating boogaloo-as-civil-war references, as some people—even those in extremist movements—still use the phrase jokingly, or to mock some of the more fanatical or gung-ho adherents of their own movement.

Absolutely Mosinitis. Both sides look to produce boogeymen.

I did 2 tours in Vietnam, 1968 - 1970. The protests were erupting back home, much to my consternation. The President wanted to label the protestors as “communists”, but even the dumb kid I was back then realized they weren’t communists, they were Americans who were against the war in Vietnam. Their message wasn’t about communism. But he needed to put a label on those people, a label that people could get upset about.

Whether or not you agree with BLM the focus is not on boogaloos (?) or ANTIFA or some other political ideology. It’s 99.9% peaceful protestors concerned about their issue. I just let them be.

Jason Rantz? No thanks. Somebody kept bumping into him? Lol
North Bender you are most definitely not unbiased. Let's play pretend that this is one big block party....

Seriously...

What about the rights of the people who live and own businesses in that area? Who cares, right? Everybody sings Kumba-ya.....

None of this makes the Democratic administration look competent or able to administer the city effectively at least not to those who work and live there. In fact, their rights are being stepped upon and much of the media seems more interested in scoring some warped points against Trump. Facts are this does not reflect upon Trump to most of the nation that owns businesses, works, and pays taxes.

Most people know there are multiple levels that must fail before the Federal Government gets involved. That failure is evident.

Do any of you understand the amount of trolling which happens on these political topics?
stuff like pepe and boogaloo manage to make it mainstreams, these ideas... Well... people believe it.
Yep they sure do. Most of the attacks experienced in the defeat of Al-Qaeda and ISIS were conducted by people who had little to know actual contact with those organization. They simply took up their mantra and claimed it for their own. It is no different with any terrorist organization, domestic or international.

People confuse ideology with methodology too. Obviously, every freedom loving individual is anti-facist and all of want our society to be just. It is the behavior that makes ANTIFA a terrorist group. Kind of like the Soviets and countless socialist regimes defeated over the years. The idea of a workers paradise is commendable. Putting some 100 million people into mass graves in the name of a achieving it is not commendable.

One person rights are not more important than another. That is part of Liberty and Justice for all. Any conflicts are resolved thru the court system not the mob.

Actually, it's why the most successful actions haven't been military, it's been financial and commerce
Target funding sources, a terrorist network, is simply ways to channel money, who is funding this?
Somewhere there is a middleman (it PAYS WELL) who's taking funds from various places, washing them and putting them into the terrorist channels, and who's the fence reselling for them.
Self funders, people like Bin Ladin are rare, so, this stuff in Seattle, organic, is simply anarchy, the question is where their supplies and funds come from.
Cut off the media, cut off the money, bet you'd see them go home.

I'm OK with a protest, I'm not OK with destruction of property and interference with others, what these fools must realize, instead of mobilizing supporters, they're doing the opposite, great agitators of the past understood this.

I haven’t heard they are real upset. Might even be doing ok with the amount of increased traffic. Anyway, I’ll let that community figure it out.

Davidsog you say I’m not neutral. I try to be. What I can’t stand are news commentators with agendas. Jason Rantz, Limbaugh, Anderson Cooper (gag!), Cuomo, etc... they just rant and rave their left or right talking points. I can’t stand to listen to such people lecture me.

Thats just my opinion and it’s certainly not meant to speak for Gunboards or limit discussion here.

You don't hear children complaining in Afghanistan about being sold into sexual slavery for Bacha Bazi either. That does not mean it does not exist. Nor does it mean that a nine year old Afghani boy consents or wants to be sexually abused by a dozen men in one night.

You talk to any of them? How many of the people that LIVE there and have their businesses there have we seen being interviewed talking about what a wonderful block party is going on??? NONE. You think they would even be allowed to come forward and speak out truthfully against the lawless standing outside; their entire lives waiting to be destroyed at the whim of the mob with no one to protect them??? Of course not, they would be labeled "racist" and their lives looted and destroyed.

You would be stupid to say something now. Look at what these people are doing to someone who makes a twitter post they disagree with?? They track them down and try to destroy their lives over expression of an opinion. That is not America or our values.

Davidsog you say I’m not neutral. I try to be.
I believe that you try I really do. I come from a culture where we debated, argued, compromised, and solved problems. The biggest tragedy of rise of Critical Race theory has been the tribalism and vilification of those who disagree. Reason, fact, and compromise looking for a "win-win" that brings us together in our humanity should be the order of the day not tribalism.

It takes all three. You have to go after Leadership, Logistics, and Money. You re right though in that you only use military force to leverage Leadership, Logistics, and Money OR to disrupt a planning cycle.

Again, no matter who the protesters are or aren't, they HI-JACKED a section of a CITY and now control it which against the law !!!!!! If I wore a Trump Shirt, what do you think would happen if I wanted in ???? They have restricted an area of a Public City , to only those people they like or more importantly , NEED to support their crime . Think of it as some bunch of bums, coming into your house and taking over a bedroom or several rooms and demanding you pay them to leave . Got it ??

Seems to me the people of the hood don't have a problem with it. They are doing it to protect themselves from molotov cocktail throwing murdering boogaloo bois. Right wing, left wing extremists will be blocked from my hood as well.
When it comes down to it it is no different than living in a gated community with a guard at the gate.

#69 ·
But there are no armed sentries.
You do not know that at all. Factually more than one source to include photographs of armed guards have surfaced. They are not propaganda, they are fact. Because they have gone to concealed carry as they state they are doing does not mean a thing.

You are condoning the oppression of the law abiding citizens who live in that area. You are condoning the STATE and CITY to cast aside the charter to uphold the law. One of these days, that philosophy will not work out well for you.

Pretty pictures. Nobody prevents people from entering. They have welcome signs at the barricades. FOX, MSN, BBC, they are all on site so that’s not hard to verify.

I know some think I’m radical because I’d like to see truth here. There are enough talking points to be made about this situation without exaggerating it to the point that people want to raise a militia and go for a gun fight.

Saturday a small group of protestors were demonstrating at our courthouse 100 miles west of Seattle. A guy drove up in an F-150 and started throwing eggs at the crowd. Hit 4 people. The bozo had his picture taken and license written down and he’s gonna face some music. Didn’t make national news or even comment on Seattle news stations. I think that’s a good thing.

Now imagine if that had happened in Seattle. There, if someone is shown to be even be peacefully armed, much less assaulting people, it’s national news. The rhetoric has more potential to blow this tinderbox open than the actual action on site.

Put up a big fence and let the "Lord of the Flies" dynamic take hold.
I fully believe in protecting my own, and helping my neighbors to protect theirs, but these Yabos have just taken over a part of a city, without any kind of community acquiescence or consent. Where's the Washington National Guard now?

Most of those business owners are not considered solid members of the Democrats voting base but the protesters certainly are a part of that voting base.

Journalist Andy Ngo says Seattle's occupied zone is like 'Jekyll and Hyde'
During the day, he said, it could be considered peaceful if one ignored boarded-up businesses or graffiti calling for the murder of police. But when the sun goes down, the "criminal elements come out," Ngo noted.
"Unfortunately, last night that was made very clear, when one person on a microphone and a loudspeaker was able to sic a mob of probably more than 100 people to chase down this business that was several blocks away. They just all descended on it. It was pure anarchy,"
For example, there's a Trader Joe's nearby who announced just a few days ago that they're closing indefinitely because of security and safety issues," he remarked. "So, when you take that and you also see all [of] the businesses that are boarded up, that no cars can drive into this area — I don't see how the few anecdotes of positive experiences of some owners could be the representative voice."

FOX news is completely bipolar. Yesterday morning they had a reporter on site who described what happened at that business in Seattle - a guy broke into a car repair shop to burgle it and he was carrying accelerants to light it on fire. The business owner called for help and a group came to his rescue. 911 was called but the police never came and eventually the guy was let go.

Fast forward - FOX starts claiming a mob tore down the place.

Againt my better judgement I watched Hannity last night to see what he would say about Seattle. He spoke eloquently about Chauvin and partners needing to go to prison and the fact that they set civil rights back two decades. I was impressed. Then he had a short segment on Seattle. He had One reporter on site and two talking head pundits. When the reporter started to describe the incident at the car repair shop he cut her off and went to the two commentators who talked about anarchy.

In the morning FOX does pretty good straight up news reporting. Then it’s the Carlson/Hannity/Ingram show, with Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon spewing competitive nonsense on the other channels. You can’t get news after 4 PM, it’s all preaching to some base.
