    Default Hat and Miscellaneous Grouping

At a gun show in Stuart Florida today, a guy told me about a hat, some badges, and a bayonet that is grandfather brought back from Germany in world war II. He said the hat had a skull on it, and it has been in the family since it came back. I went to his house after the show to see it oh, and here are some pictures. Met his dad also, also said that his father was the one that brought it back. They are interested in selling it, but need some opinions. What do you guys think? Also, the flog was said to be used to whip prisoners, and the bayonet came back at the same time, not sure what it is for. Opinions please !!

The bayonet is a French M1892 in rather sad shape; little value there. The cap I dunno about, though it looks kinda new; those with knowledge of these things will weigh in soon.

I told then the bayonet looked French, was not sure of model though. Hat looks newer in the pictures than it does in real life, the guy, his father, and mother were there and all said it came from grandpa...... It looks interesting to me.

well the FLOG, was not used to beat prisoners, but to beat clothes and blankets to get the dust / dirt out of them. often offered on GERMAN SITES as a SS CAT OF NINE TAILS, for beating prisoners. never happened. BILL SHEA and 1944 MILITARIA, and THE BUNKER all had one at one time for sale, listed as a clothes, blanket dust beater.

There were companies in the 1960's that would make you a uniform using original cloth and thread and with original insignia, because it was all just "Junk" back then . This may be a hat that was made then, post war and grandpa elaborated about where he got it.

Political eagle on the SS visor not the SS eagle, eagle pins are throught the sweat band, nope. SS officers black caps were piped in silver not white, other ranks piped in white. Cap looks too new, SS RZM tags have beem faked for years. no sweat or wear to the sweat band. NO discoloration th the sweat shield. .Chin cord buttons are black officers were silver pebbled, other ranks were black painted, smooth surface. SS black stamp on the underside of the visor is not correct, never had that.

Someone has posted your items on another WW2 website for opinions. Hold on and let's see what they say. Lots of knowledgeable collectors there.
If it is a good cap it is worth a lot of money.

Hat is original and as right as rain. It was originally an NCO visor upgraded to officer by addition of silver cord as opposed to leather split center chinstrap. Other items look period as well.

Looks like the other folks like it. As I said, it is worth quite a bit of money. It is an Allgemeine SS visor cap. https://www.germanmilitaria.com/Waff...s/S000176.html

Hat is 100% correct for a period updated NCO visor to Officer by additional of silver cord. All other components are 100% original.

Hat is 100% correct and is an Algemeine SS nco visor updated to officer. All components are correct!

This is not a sales forum, any chatter about sales and it go’s bye bye.
