They mention high wall receivers , is that all round receivers or only special ones. thank You in advance as I'm planing a PEM for vintage sniper matches.
Actually first trial run of PEM's in 1936 (approximately 50 mounts produced by Voskov factory in Sestroretsk) were hex receiver rifles. Reason - PEM design was copied from GECO D3 mout, and D3 was supposed to be used on the hex receivers. Preserial PEM mount (there is an image in my book) had very similar design. However, in 1936-1938 mount was redesigned, and serial production was started only in mid 1938, and of course, only using round receivers
And here is an image of the first pattern mod.1936 mount (on the left, excerpt from the drawing)
Beside, at June 18th, I'll making Zoom video meeting about different Soviet sniper mounts (including trial models), so if somebody interested in this subject, join here https://www.m9130.info/
Wow. What great information. Thanks D and R. I assume that only "PE", a US short cut to reality and terms, were used early only hex rifles for the most part??
Round receivers were used on PE snipers starting in 1936. Some 1936 PE's are built on Hex receivers, some on round
In 1937 PE's were made on round receivers
