    Default AK4/AK5 (1.5x/3x) Trials Scopes

I have some limited information on these!!!
They were produced for the AK5/AK4, respectively, and can be viewed in the 02-2004 issue of Small Arms Review (or in pdf format/search Swedish AK4 Reclamation).
Similar to the HK G36 scope setup.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I was actually, in another matter, the last week in contact with one of the responsible persons connected to those trials. The official info I can tell you are that they tested app. ten different optical scopes and red dot sight from different producers. The remaining scopes, sights and material where scrapped after ending of the trial period, nothing was sold on the privare market.
The Swedish Aimpoint red dot sight was later adopted and purchased in big quantities.

    Hi Tony!
Guess you already got all info to be found on this matter. The scope didnt make it through the tests, in other words failed......Unbelivable amounts of different materials tested during the years in all different military fields. Interesting is those that survived, got to be approved, and run into production. IMHO.

    Arilar,

    Thanks for your reply!!!
Here is a pic of a similar scope to the one in question (this is the 3x for the AK4):

With due respect to Fson, apparently a few made it to the private market.

With due respect to you to Tony but.......military material are sometimes not intended to be sold or to reach "private market". In some cases they slip through but not always on a legal way. Myself very careful when offered items if seller not able to declare its background history...........Just my 2c.

Now I, on your behalf, contacted the current instance one last time about the sights that interest you.
The answer is, as before, there is neither material, images or written material left on these attempts.
The source of this information was highly involved when this happened and is still working in the same field. If he can not answer these questions, I have no more to add.
In doing so, I drop the case and are not intend to dig deeper into this, but wish you good luck with your sources who apparently know more?

    Thank you,
Here's a link to a page that displays to which weapon this telescopic sight

    would have been mounted on.

They were also made in a small number of copies and most of them have been destroyed.

Maybe not a holy grail, per se--- but pretty rare!!!
All who have provided me credible information state 10-20 each of the 1.5x and 3x.
You naysayers have been provided two (2) pics.

This rifle scope was produced in a small number copies and it was an experimental model that few people knew about before Tony took it up and linked to the page.
There is an even smaller number of people who have seen one in real life. I think good that you mention/ discusses unusual and rare objects on this forum, it makes the forum more interesting if its about other things than swedish mauser rifles.

    Cheers

A 1.5x and 3x sold on Uzitalk--- seller's source claims 25 of each magnification, but the source cannot verify this number--- the search continues for exact numbers!!!

    Hello Tony!
When i visited the "Eskilstuna Stadsmuseum" (city museum of eskilstuna in Sweden) last year they had a trials AK5(d? Dont remember) with that Hensoldt sight assembly. It was up on the second floor, in their arms gallery. Took pictures of it but i'm currently on vacation in Bulgaria, will try to post pics when i'm back home again..
