Here's the info on one I just picked up.

    1943 PU
    S/N BC2241

Not sure which scope number is needed, so here are both numbers.

07216 is the original scope # that is struck through
123276 is the second scope # that matches the scope

I recently picked up a 1944 original PU sniper at a local gunshow. Unfortunately the scope was missing but the base was still there. I bought an original scope and mount from a seller from Russia on Ebay with the correct year of manufacture.
Rifle serial# is TA3585, original scope serial# stamped on receiver, 4404459
Serial # on replacement scope is 4430316

I wonder if I should report an ex-sniper which I almost bought, but because of large corrosion spot on the barrel I eventually skipped - the 1943 Izhevsk HB 2529, with weldeld mount holes and ground off serial number of the scope? After all most probably it was a sniper but refurbished and transformed into a regular infantry rifle.

I think I should. Because without it I would not have a chance to be offered a non-refurb Izhevsk 1943, BC 223, matching numbers except the bolt which is BC 1690, initial scope No stamped on a barrel shrank A 96452, actual scope attached A 105995 ( Progress ).

    Hi from the UK, here are the details of my PU;

Serial number ЛБ3409, refurb'd 2nd GRAU Arsenal Kiev, scope serial number on barrel shank scrubbed (only a faint number 4 still visible), fitted with 1940-dated NKV No.357 "Progress" Plant SVT scope with no CB mark.Scope serial number is No.04651 with 1959-dated 2nd GRAU Arsenal Kiev refurb stamp. The electro-pencilled serial number on the mount matches the rifle but no scope number on the mount.

Not sure if anyone's keeping this database up to date, but here we go...
    Bit of a weird case:

1943 Izhevsk, serial 9054 (no prefixes) - which is unusual from what I've been told. Barrel shank was aggressively scrubbed (no original scope # remains) but there does appear to be remains of cyrillic lettering but it's unreadable. Possibly was originally "ГБ9054" from what I can see, though the rest of the serials (bolt, receiver, buttplate, floorplate) do not have the prefixes.

Refurb rifle, Tulsky import. Scope is an original Progress (#357 NKV) SVT PU, dated 1941 (refurb 1959 by 2nd GRAU), Serial No.68449. Let me know if more info is required.

Not sure if it's still updated, but just in case it is:

    1943 TB3297
    PU #4447725

The scope number and the rifle number are EPed on the scope mount, the scope mount number is stamped on the barrel shank.
