Default Gew 88 Commission Rifle Bolt Heads

    Hi Guys

I have a world class machine shop that is looking to make another run of Gew 88 Bolt Heads. They are tooling up to make one for a special customer, so I want to make sure everyone that needs one gets in on the action while they are kicking them out. I am helping with the pattern so I should be able to get us what we need. I don't know what they will cost yet but it looks like they are going to be outstanding based on the shops previous work and capabilities. I am going to get a half dozen myself. Email me at [email protected] and let me know what you need and we will correspond. Thanks!

I'm interested and also send you an email some time ago but you have not responded. Question? do you also make the extractors? Or, just a bare bones bolt head?

There's a guy over at Calguns, CASEC, who had a mess of them made a while back. $50 bucks if he still has any. PAX

Is anyone doing similar for Mauser 1871 extractors? I could use two.

APEX currently has bolt heads with ejectors, not extractors, which can be modified from Portuguese extractors.

    They also list bolts, however:

The bolt heads are good, but you seem to have mixed up the 1895 Dutch bolt with the Gew 88 bolt (same image on both item pages). They are functionally almost identical except for the bolt head, which is not. I was able to get the bolt to work with a Gew 88 head. However, it would require slotting the ejector lug.

APEX Gun Parts has removed the 88 Commission rifle bolts as what was on the shelf were actually for the Dutch Mannlicher rifles and carbines.
I have seen '88 Commission rifle bolts in the S.S. parts pallets, but none have come forward from the warehouse yet.

Good, because I found yet another Gew 88 in my stack, and I have half a bolt for it--body and head--need the rest of the parts.

    Hi Guys:
Sorry I have not been able to follow up on this. My full time job is keeping me busy. My email has changed to [email protected]
I hope to get back to this project one day and will post it when I do, but am not working on it at the moment. If I can be of any assistance to anyone who is pursuing it I am always glad to help.

Keep in mind, if you find a bolt, it will probably be stripped. You will need to source a bolt head, ejector and extractor. Those will be the hardest parts to find as well as the most expensive. Expect to pay $100+ for a bolt head and $75+ for an ejector.

Numrich has the extractors, but they're actually Mauser-Verguerio extractors which need to be modified to fit.

What does the Gewehr 88 look like and what is the guy asking for it?

He says to make an offer and I want to know how much it will cost to get those parts before making one. Seems to be in decent shape.

I agree 100%. The actual machined bolt head really means nothing. And really, this guy has been advertising for years yet, as far as I know hasn't made a thing. And, I really wonder if an extractor or ejector would actually fit this thing.
